DLF: Stories about life

The author's deep sense of life, the struggle of the past life and the individuality make the ordinary events in life extraordinary. These extraordinary events become stories and get new life.

Bangladeshi author, poet, screenwriter, film-maker and novelist Sadat Hossain said this at the Dhaka Lit Fest at Bangla Academy on Thursday.

Talking about the process of writing, he emphasized on the writer's own thoughts, observations and sensibilities.

He opined that currently Bengali literature is in a good position in terms of quality in the global context.

Instead of chasing after a certain standard in art literature, Sadat emphasized on transcending oneself step by step in aesthetics.

The discussant also expressed that translation of literature in foreign language is not being done in proper quality in recent times.

Sadat Hossain said: “We have to be more focused in the promotion of books and work with new ideas. Writers in different countries of Europe have different plans for book promotion.”

Following a three-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 10th edition of Dhaka Lit Fest officially raised its curtain on Thursday morning.
