Envoy: Dhaka Lit Fest will be great opportunity for people to get to know Nobel laureate Orhan Pamuk

Nobel laureate Turkish writer Orhan Pamuk will attend the 10th edition of Dhaka Lit Fest (DLF) to be held in January.

It would be a great opportunity for the people of Bangladesh to become acquainted with the writer, Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Mustafa Osman Turan said at a program at a Dhaka hotel arranged by Centre for Governance Studies (CGS) on Wednesday.

Orhan Pamuk's speech at the event would be a major topic of discussion, he added.

After being cancelled for three consecutive years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 10th edition of Dhaka Lit Fest (DLF), the biggest international literary festival in Bangladesh, is set to take place from January 5-8 next year.

The event will be held on the historic grounds of the Bangla Academy in Dhaka.

Dhaka Lit Fest has been a popular annual event in the winter calendar of Bangladesh.

About 30,000 people participated in the ninth Dhaka Lit Fest, held in 2019.

Orhan Pamuk, a Turkish novelist, screenwriter and academic, received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2006.
