Stocks fall for third day

Both of the bourses of the country — Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) — witnessed a fall for the third consecutive day since the proposed national budget for the 2022-23 fiscal year. 

The benchmark index of DSE, DSEX dropped 30 points or 0.47% to 6,361 points on Monday. 

Meanwhile, the blue-chip index DS30 fell by 16 points and the shariah-based DSES index fell by 7 points.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, hit Tk874 crore up from the previous day’s Tk798 crore. 

Among the traded stocks, 89 advanced, 236 declined and 57 remained unchanged in DSE.

The top position of the gainers’ list belonged to Shinepukur Ceramics with a rise of 9.98%, followed by Miracle Industries, Meghna Insurance, Khan Brothers PP Woven Bag Industries, JMI Hospital Requisite Manufacturing, and Monno Fabrics.

On the other hand, One Bank dropped the most by 5.31%, followed by Indo-Bangla Pharmaceuticals, Apex Tannery, Renwick Jajneswar, and Zeal Bangla Sugar Mills. 

In the Chittagong Stock Exchange, the CASPI or all price index edged down 78 points or 0.41% to 18,710.

Among the 292 traded stocks in the port city bourse, 84 rose, 169 fell and 39 remained the same.
