More schools to be added to MPO list

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has informed the parliament that necessary funds have been earmarked, in thebudget, for the enlistment of new schools on the Monthly Pay Order (MPO) list this year. 

The minister said this while placing his maiden budget of around Tk523,190 crore at the national parliamenton Thursday.

"Under the special directive of the prime minister, the fresh MPO enlistment of schools has been undertaken which remained suspended for a long time," the finance minister said.

Enhanced salary, Baishakhibonus for teachers 

To enhance financial benefits and facilities for teachers, an annual increment of 5% on the basic salary is being provided, starting July2018, to teachers and employees of MPO-enlisted non-government schoolsunder the Secondary and Higher Education Division, said the minister.

The minister said: "Additionally, a BaishakhiBonus amounting to 20% of the basic salary is being provided fromthe FY2018-19."

From the current fiscal year, special grants for academic institutions,teachers, and students are being provided through the online system, andpayments are made through mobile banking, said the minister.
