Standard Global Economic Zone gets pre-qualification certificate

Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (Beza) on Saturday gave pre-qualification certificate to private-run Standard Global Economic Zone located at Gazaria upazila in Munshiganj district.

Beza Executive Chairman Paban Chowdhury handed over the certificate, which leads a step ahead to get final license, to Standard Global Economic Zone Limited Chairman Engineer Atiqur Rahman at a function held at the Beza office, reports BSS.

The zone is being established on 108 acres of land adjacent to Dhaka-Chittagong highway. $760 million will be invested in the economic zone for infrastructure development.

Speaking at the event, Paban Chowdhury said investors from both home and abroad are showing a lot of interest to develop the economic zones in the country.

"Beza has already given licences to seven private economic zones," he added.

The Beza chief also hopes that Standard Global Economic Zone will become an effective example in encouraging rapid economic development through diversification of industries and increase in employment, production, and export.
