The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) has announced to work with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for helping the government tap huge overseas manpower market throughexporting skilled workforce.
An agreement in this regard was signed between the FBCCI and the IOM at the federation’s conference room yesterday. FBCCI Secretary General Mir Shahabuddin Mohammad and Chief of Mission of IOM in Bangladesh Sarat Dash signed the agreement on behalf of their sides, reports BSS.
Speaking on the occasion, the FBCCI President Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed described the migration issue as an important one for Bangladesh and said facilities for Bangladesh migrant workers are limited. The federation is keen to work with the IOM to address all challenges in the way of safe migration, he said.
“FBCCI wants to work for smooth migration process… we want to grab the huge overseas job market competing with other competitors,” said the apex trade body chief.
IOM Chief of Mission Sarat Dash said the organisation would provide the government with all out cooperation for safe labour migration.
There is a huge potential in the overseas employment market and although Bangladesh send a good number of manpower every year but it is not in a position to take over the untapped potential due to lack of skilled workforce while its neighboring countries are reaping the benefit of it, he said.
Speakers at the function expect the signed agreement will pave the way for sending skilled and semi skilled manpower abroad.
