Cellular Phone operator Teletalk will sell 3G Connection in Sylhet under special arrangement ahead of Eid-ul-fitr.
The state-owned operator, who is providing the mobile broadband service in trial basis, has taken the initiative targeting the expatriated people mainly living in United Kingdom.
"We've taken the move to offer 3G connection in Sylhet ahead of Eid considering the interest of the people," M Mujibur Rahman, managing director of Teletalk Bangladesh, told BSS on Monday.
He informed that they have completed all the preparation for the special arrangement.
Teletalk has launched the 3G or third generaion mobile service in the city on August 1 by completing technical preparation after offering the service in Dhaka and Chittagong.
In Sylhet city, Teletalk installed 40 BTSs (Base transceiver station) to cover the whole city and also working to expand its coverage at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST). Later, more areas would be brought under its coverage.
Managing Director of Teletalk said customer could avail 3G connection from the Teletalk Customer Care Centre at MN Tower in city's Chouhatta area from 9am to 5pm in every working day.
The operator, at present, offering free 100 minutes voice call, 50 minutes video call, 1 GB data, 200 SMS and 50 MMS with Ekush 3G package for Taka 450.
In addition, the customers are enjoying upto 4mbps from 256kbps internet speed in the 3G service.
Teletalk launched the 3G Service on October 14 last year for the first time in the country on trial basis. Now, the operator is expanding its 3G coverage across the divisional headquarters in phases.
