Regent Air set to launch international flights

Regent Airways, a subsidiary of Habib Group, is set to launch its first international flight from July 7 with its debut flight to Malaysia.

After two years of domestic operation, the company is likely to operate its daily flights to Kuala Lumpur amid growing demands from the passengers, executives of the private airliner told a press meeting in Dhaka on Wednesday.

It is also planning to initiate flight service in Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong and Kolkata within this year.

Regent recently had taken lease of two 126-seat next generation Boeing 737-700 aircraft to operate flights between Dhaka and Kuala Lumpur.

“The airways strive to provide the best service to the passengers by offering world class onboard and ground services. As a start-up airline, Regent Airways is setting standards never seen before in the local industry – starting from extensive infrastructural capabilities and modern fleet of aircraft to world-class training of its staff and adoption of high safety standards,” said Imran Asif, chief executive officer of the airlines.

Managing Director Mashruf Habib said the airways has been operated with an on-time performance of over 97% and has carried over 500,000 passengers within two years of operations with a perfect safety record.

“Keeping this in mind, we are launching international flight to provide the best onboard and on-time service to the travelers.”

Malaysian ambassador to Bangladesh, Norlin Binti Othman attended the programme and wishes prosperity to Regent Airways for their coming flights.

In response to a question about complexities of getting visas, she said visas should not be a problem for the visitors. “We have 25 visa recruiting agencies to support the visitors. Visitors can get their visa within a maximum of five days of their application.”

She said visitors and business people could have the privilege of easy entry to Malaysia and added: “Businessman from OIC countries will have privilege of multiple entries.”

Sale of the tickets was formally started on Wednesday. Price for economy class tickets are Tk. 27,500 (round trip) and business class tickets are Tk55, 000 (round trip). Tickets are available at authorised travel agents, Regent Airways sales offices and from Regent Airways website www.flyregent.com.
