NTT DoCoMo, Japan's leading mobile phone operator has sold a major portion of its existing share in Bangladesh mobile phone operator, Robi to its Malaysian counterpart Axiata.
With the sale, DoCoMo’s ownership of the company has come down to 8% compared to the previous 30%, said Chief Financial Officer of Robi, Mahatab Uddin Ahmed in an official announcement today.
Robi will complete the formalities with BTRC soon, said Mahatab.
Earlier in 2007, DoCoMo bought 30% of Robi (then AKTEL) owned by A K Khan and Company, a stake previously valued at over $300m.
