Bangladesh Bank asked the banks to supply adequate money to the ATM booths and branches across the country.
The instruction came to ensure smooth financial transactions for clients, said a circular Bangladesh Bank issued yesterday.
The banks were also asked to take necessary measures to ensure security for the booths and branches.
The circular was issued against the backdrop of ongoing hartal that caused disruption to money supply to the booths and branches across the country, said Humayun Kabir, general manager of Currency Management Department of Bangladesh Bank.
“We also want to draw the government attention through the circular so that banks get adequate security while carrying money during hartal hours,” he said.
The Islamic party on Sunday announced a 24-hour strike for Thursday protesting the death sentence to its top leader Mir Quasem Ali for war crimes and on Monday another 24-hour hartal for Wednesday protesting the death penalty for its another leader M Kamaruzzaman.
