Govt to pay Sonali Bank fines by FCA

The minister addressed the fine that was imposed by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). He said as the government owns majority shares of the bank, it will cover the fines.

Asked, if the government intended to protest the fine, he said the bank had appealed but denied.

He added that the individuals responsible for the anti-money laundering gaffe will face severe actions, especially, the director of the Sonali Bank's UK division and a number of other top-tier officials.Read More: Sonali Bank fined £3.3m for anti-money laundering failings
