NCC Bank joins BB’s refinance schemes for financing eco-friendly industry, tech sectors

With the aim of increasing financing for environment-friendly industries and technology-driven initiatives, NCC Bank has recently signed two separate agreements with Bangladesh Bank to participate in two refinance schemes of Bangladesh Bank.

Under the agreements, financing will be provided under the “Refinance Scheme for Green Factory Building and Green Industry Sector” and the “Refinance Scheme for Development of the Information and Communication Technology Sector.”

Each scheme has a fund size of Tk1,000 crore, which will further expand opportunities for financing environment-friendly industrialization and technology-driven initiatives.

At an agreement-signing ceremony held at Bangladesh Bank’s head office, M Shamsul Arefin, managing director of NCC Bank, and AKM Nurunnabi, director of the Sustainable Finance Department of Bangladesh Bank, signed the agreements on behalf of their respective institutions.

At the time, Nighat Mumtaz, EVP and head of sustainable & women’s banking of NCC Bank, along with relevant senior officials of both institutions, were present.

Through this refinance facility, opportunities will be created to finance the construction of green factories, environment-friendly industrial infrastructure, and various ICT-driven initiatives.

At the same time, this financing will help transform existing industrial establishments into more environmentally compliant and resource-efficient production systems.

For NCC Bank, this initiative will not only expand the scope of sustainable financing but also create opportunities to more effectively link financing with the goals of reducing carbon emissions and lowering the carbon footprint of the industrial sector.

By increasing investment in environment-friendly technology and energy-efficient infrastructure, this refinance will play an important role in advancing the country’s industrialization along an environmentally sustainable growth path.
