Bangladesh Bank, AB Bank to support agricultural development of North Bengal

AB Bank PLC has recently signed a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Bangladesh Bank under a Tk3,000 crore refinancing scheme aimed at establishing agriculture-based special economic zone in the northern region (Rajshahi and Rangpur) of the country. 

ZM Babar Khan, managing director (current charge), AB Bank, and AKM Saiduzzaman, director, Agricultural Credit Department-2, Bangladesh Bank, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations at the head office of Bangladesh Bank.

Md Kabir Ahmed, deputy governor, Bangladesh Bank attended the signing ceremony as the chief guest, while Arief Hossain Khan, executive director and spokesperson of Bangladesh Bank, attended the event as special guest.

Besides, Zainal Abedin, additional director, Agricultural Credit Department-2, Bangladesh Bank, Iftekhar Enam Awal, DMD and chief business officer, AB Bank, along with other senior officials were also present at the event.

Under this agreement, AB Bank will provide loans to the farmers of the north region, agricultural entrepreneurs in the CMSME sector at affordable interest rates and easy terms.

Through this initiative the bank will contribute to creating rural employment and ensuring food security across the country.
