Standard Islami Bank PLC has signed an agreement with Bangladesh Bank under a Tk3,000 crore Refinance Scheme to support the development of an agriculture-based economic hub in North Bengal.
The agreement was signed at Bangladesh Bank head office on August 31 in presence of Md Kabir Ahmed, deputy governor, Arief Hossain Khan, executive director, and AKM Saiduzzaman, director (Agricultural Credit Department-2) from Bangladesh Bank, with Md Siddiqur Rahman, additional managing director & MD (CC) and Mohammad Amzad Hossain Fakir, vice president & head, SME, Agri & Retail Banking Division from Standard Islami Bank.
Under the agreement, Standard Islami Bank will finance the agricultural value chain including production, preservation, processing, marketing, agro-based industries and export-oriented activities.
The initiative aims to boost agricultural production, rural employment and income generation while promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth in the northern region of the country.
