Standard Chartered Bangladesh appoints Enamul Huque as CEO

Standard Chartered Bangladesh announced the appointment of Enamul Huque as chief executive officer, effective September 1, 2026.

Enam brings extensive leadership experience across corporate and institutional banking and risk management.

During his 25 years with Standard Chartered, both in Bangladesh and other markets, Enam has built deep expertise across local corporates, commodity trading and agribusiness, global subsidiaries and financial institutions; while leading strategic client relationships and landmark transactions across diverse sectors.

Reacting to his appointment, Enamul Huque, CEO, Standard Chartered Bangladesh, said: “It is an honour to be appointed as the CEO for Standard Chartered Bangladesh. This bank has been my professional identity for over 25 years. Taking up the role of chief executive officer of our Bangladesh franchise is both a recognition, and a big responsibility. My priority will be to continue to be the super connector international bank, invested in the success of our clients and regulators; and to remain the trusted partner to our clients, communities and other stakeholders.”

Immediately prior to his appointment as CEO, Enam served as country chief risk officer and senior credit officer from April 2025, overseeing risk across the Bangladesh franchise; and ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and the bank’s growth ambitions.

He also chaired the bank’s Diversity and Inclusion Council.

Beyond his role at Standard Chartered, Enam has contributed to the broader development of Bangladesh’s financial sector.

He served as co-chair of the standing committee on capital markets and bond at the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) for the 2023 to 2025 term.

Enam holds an MBA from Mount Eliza Business School, Monash University, Australia; and graduate and post graduate degrees from the University of Dhaka.

Outside work, he enjoys travelling and has a keen appreciation for the arts.
