Al-Arafah Islami Bank launches Bangla QR campaign, awareness rally

To promote the adoption of Bangla QR, raise public awareness of secure and cashless transactions, and further strengthen the country's digital payment ecosystem, Al-Arafah Islami Bank PLC launched the Bangla QR & Digital Dan Box Acquiring Excellence Campaign 2026 and organized a Bangla QR Awareness Rally.

The program was held at the bank's head office, Al-Arafah Tower, on August 3, where deputy governor of Bangladesh Bank Md Sarwar Hossain attended as chief guest.

Chairman of the board of directors Badiur Rahman, and chairman of the executive committee of the board Salim Rahman were present as special guests.

The program was presided over by managing director of the bank Mohd Rafat Ullah Khan.

Deputy managing director & head of digital banking division Md Aminul Islam Bhuiyan was also present.

The event was conducted by SEVP & head of GSD Engr Md Habib Ullah.

Prior to the rally, the distinguished guests formally inaugurated the Bangla QR & Digital Dan Box Acquiring Excellence Campaign 2026 and unveiled the Bank's Bangla QR promotional materials.

They later led an awareness rally joined by the Bank's executives and employees.

The rally started from the corporate head office premises, marched through the surrounding streets, and concluded at the same venue.

Md Sarwar Hossain, deputy governor of Bangladesh Bank, emphasized that the widespread adoption of Bangla QR is essential to ensuring secure, fast, and convenient digital transactions.

He underscored the importance of collaborative efforts among banks, merchants, and customers in advancing the country's vision of a Smart Bangladesh and a cashless economy.

Speaking at the event, Badiur Rahman, chairman of the board of directors of Al-Arafah Islami Bank PLC, said that Bangla QR is more than just a payment solution; it is an effective tool for expanding digital financial inclusion and promoting cashless transactions.

He stressed the need for continuous awareness initiatives to encourage greater adoption of Bangla QR among merchants and the general public.

Mohd Rafat Ullah Khan, managing director & CEO of Al-Arafah Islami Bank PLC, said that the Bank remains committed to delivering secure, convenient, and Shariah-compliant digital banking services.

He added that the Bank's digital initiatives, including Bangla QR, Digital Dan Box, Islamic Wallet, Internet Banking, and IlmNet, will further accelerate cashless transactions and strengthen financial inclusion across the country.

Among others, the bank's senior executives, heads of various divisions, and officials participated in the program.

Through the campaign and awareness rally, the bank reaffirmed its commitment to promoting the widespread adoption of Bangla QR, encouraging secure digital payments, and contributing to the development of a modern, inclusive, and cashless digital economy in Bangladesh.
