The Half-Yearly Business Development Conference of the Dhaka Central, Dhaka East Zone and Six Corporate Branches of Dhaka City Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC was held on Saturday, August 1, at Islami Bank Tower.
Mohammad Zahir Hussain, executive director of Bangladesh Bank & assigned to serve as chairman of the board of directors of Islami Bank, addressed the conference as chief guest.
Md Altaf Hossain, managing director (acting) presided over the program.
Mohammad Jamal Uddin Mazumder and M Kamal Uddin Jasim, additional managing directors, Md Mahboob Alam, Mahmudur Rahman, Md Rafiqul Islam, and Md Maksudur Rahman, deputy managing directors, Md Mahbub-A-Alam, head of Dhaka Central Zone, Muhammad Solaiman, head of Dhaka East Zone, and heads of the six corporate branches of Dhaka City along with the bank’s executives and officials, were present on the occasion.
In his address, Mohammad Zahir Hussain said that the branch managers are the main driving force of the bank.
He said that their role in overcoming the recent crisis was exceptional and commendable.
He said that the predecessors of Islami Bank had made a glorious contribution to the country's economic development, and that tradition must be carried forward with dedication, integrity and professionalism.
He emphasized that, alongside further strengthening the confidence of customers of all segments, including the new generation, through advanced, modern and technology-driven digital banking services, greater engagement of small and medium entrepreneurs should be ensured, and importance should be given to introducing new, timely, Shariah-compliant and welfare-oriented products and services, as well as increasing investment in the agricultural sector.
He called for collective efforts to improve customer service, ensure good governance, transparency and accountability, increase deposits, enhance quality investments, expand foreign trade, and reduce non-performing investments.
Md Altaf Hossain said that Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC has regained its footing by overcoming the crisis of confidence through the overall support of Bangladesh Bank and the sincere, dedicated and tireless efforts of the Bank’s officers and employees.
On the occasion, he called upon all officers and employees, as well as people from all walks of life, to come forward in promoting Bangla QR and building a cashless Bangladesh.
The conference reviewed the half-yearly business activities of the Dhaka Central Zone, Dhaka East Zone and six Corporate Branches in Dhaka and held detailed discussions on strategies for achieving the business targets of the current year, increasing deposits and investments, attaining excellence in customer service, and various guidelines for making business operations more dynamic.
