Jamuna Bank organizes capacity building workshop on emerging global sustainability regulations

Jamuna Bank PLC organized a capacity building workshop titled "Evolving Global Regulatory Landscape Relating to Carbon Emissions and Sustainability" at the Jamuna Bank Training Academy (JBTA), Dhaka, on July 25.

Held as part of the bank's continued commitment to strengthening institutional capacity on climate-related regulatory compliance, the session covered major EU frameworks including CBAM, CSRD, ESPR and the Digital Product Passport (DPP).

The program was inaugurated by chief guest Abdus Salam, additional managing director and head of the sustainable finance committee, with special guests Md Shahidul Islam, DMD & CRO, and Mohammad Jahangir Alam, DMD & head of wholesale banking division.

The keynote was delivered by Engr ABM Mizanur Rahman, senior consultant at MicelioDATA and an EU regulation and RMG industry expert, who outlined the implications of these evolving regulations for Bangladesh's export-oriented industries, particularly RMG.

The workshop also featured a live DPP platform demonstration, industry case studies, and a Q&A session.

Executives from the bank's head office and branches, along with representatives from corporate and RMG clients, attended.

The workshop is expected to strengthen participants' understanding of emerging sustainability requirements and help Bangladeshi businesses stay competitive globally through improved ESG compliance.

The session was conducted by Sajia Afrin Atique and Md Afzal Hossain, SAVP of Jamuna Bank Training Academy, and coordinated by Mohammad Prashanta Samir, head of the sustainable finance unit.
