Monzurur Rahman reelected chairman of Pubali Bank

Businessman and philanthropist Monzurur Rahman has been re-elected as chairman of the board of directors of Pubali Bank PLC for a further term of two years.

He was unanimously reelected chairman at the 1,520th meeting of the board of directors of the bank.

Monzurur Rahman embarked on his banking journey in 1967 by joining Eastern Mercantile Bank, the predecessor of Pubali Bank, as its youngest director.

After the privatization of Pubali Bank in 1983, he served as chairman of the board of directors from 25 January 1985 to 18 January 1986.

Subsequently, he has been serving as chairman of the board of directors since 31 July 2020.

His competent leadership and far-sighted vision have made significant contributions to the growth and modernization of Pubali Bank.

Monzurur Rahman belongs to a distinguished and renowned family that has made notable contributions to Bangladesh’s banking and financial sectors.

Alongside his extensive involvement in banking, he plays a prominent role in Bangladesh’s tea industry as chairman of Rema Tea Company Ltd. In addition, he served as an independent director of LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Limited.

Rahman was born into a distinguished Muslim family of Kazi Bari in Cheora village under Chauddagram upazila of Comilla.

His father, the late Khan Bahadur Mukhlesur Rahman, obtained a degree in Law from Calcutta University in 1916 and was a successful tea planter.
