Sammilito Islami Bank appoints new chairman & managing director

The government has appointed new chairman and managing director (MD) of state-owned Sammilito Islami Bank PLC.

Kazi Shairul Hasan has been appointed as the chairman of the bank, and Abedur Rahman Sikder, deputy managing director (DMD) of Dutch-Bangla Bank, has been appointed as managing director.

This information was given in two separate notifications issued by the Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance on Monday (June 8).

According to the notification, both the posts of chairman and managing director have been appointed for the next three years from the date of their joining.

The instructions of the Financial Institutions Division state that necessary further steps should be taken regarding the appointment of Abedur Rahman Sikder as the managing director as per the provisions of the Bank Companies Act, 1991.

The chairman of the board of directors of Sammilito Islami Bank has been requested to take necessary action in this regard.

Those involved in the banking sector believe that the new leadership will accelerate the activities of Sammilito Islami Bank and the overall management and good governance of the bank will be further strengthened.

It is expected that the new management will play an important role in the bank's business expansion, deposit and investment activities and customer service improvement.
