The Islami Bank Consumer Awareness Forum has called for a two-hour pen break nationwide on Monday (June 8) from 10 am to 12 noon to demand the resignation of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC chairman Khurshid Alam.

The organization's president, Prof Nur Nabi Manik announced the program from a protest march and rally organized in front of Islami Bank Tower in Motijheel, the capital, on Sunday (June 7).

At the rally, he alleged that Khurshid Alam's appointment as the chairman of Islami Bank has created concern among the bank's customers, depositors, and shareholders.

He called on the government to ensure the stability and good governance of Islami Bank as the country's largest private bank.

Prof Manik said that Khurshid Alam's resignation from the post of chairman must be ensured within the next 24 hours. Otherwise, the movement will be further strengthened.

He demanded that necessary steps should be taken to protect the interests of Islami Bank, the trust of its customers and the stability of the country's banking sector.

He said that a sit-in program and human chain will be held in front of all branches and sub-branches of Islami Bank, including its head office, on Monday from 10 am to 12 noon.

At the same time, the bank's officers and employees have been called to observe a two-hour work abstention.
