March sees record-breaking $4.25bn remittances arrive

The highest remittances in a single month in the country's history were received in March this year.

Last month, expatriate Bangladeshis sent $3.75 billion in remittances to the country, which was previously the highest monthly remittance flow in Bangladesh's history.

The Bangladesh Bank released updated information on Wednesday (April 1).

According to the central bank, the previous highest remittance in a single month was in March 2025.

At that time, expatriates sent $3.29 billion to the country.

The third highest remittance came in December 2025, when expatriates sent $3.22 billion to the country.

Recently, incentives to send remittances through legal channels, development of the banking system, and increased interest among expatriates are believed to have created this record in remittance flow.
