Depositors of Sammilito Islami Bank, formed by merging five weak banks, were able to withdraw money from Thursday (January 1).
According to the notification issued by the central bank, a maximum of Tk2 lakh can be withdrawn at a time from current and savings accounts.
If the deposit is more than Tk2 lakh, there will be an opportunity to withdraw a maximum of Tk7 lakh every three months. However, this limit will not apply to kidney dialysis and cancer patients.
Individual depositors will get priority in withdrawing money. And in the case of institutions, deposits of more than Tk7 lakh will be converted into five-year term deposits, where a profit of 1% less than the bank rate, i.e. 3%, will be given.
Individual depositors will be able to withdraw the entire amount after two years.
However, normal transactions will be allowed in phases for educational institutions, religious institutions, hospitals, officers and employees of various institutions, provident funds and gratuities, joint ventures and multinational companies, banks and finance companies covered by the resolution, and foreign embassies.
Deposits with a maturity of three months outside current and savings accounts will be automatically withdrawable after three more renewals.
Deposits with a maturity of six months to one year can be withdrawn after two renewals.
