After appointing new chairman and executive committee chairman for United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB), Bangladesh Bank on Tuesday further restructured the bank’s board of directors.
The board members now include former Bangladesh Bank executive director Sajjad Hossain, former Agrani Bank deputy managing director Md Yusuf Ali, and chartered accountant Obaidur Rahman, the central bank said in a circular issued on the day.
Additionally, Sharif Zahir and Md Tanvir Khan have been appointed as shareholder directors, on the condition that they resign from their positions on the boards of National Finance Ltd and Eastland Insurance Company Ltd, respectively.
Earlier on the day, Dr Aparup Chowdhury, independent director of UCB was unanimously elected as chairman, while Bashir Ahmed was appointed chairman of the bank’s executive committee.
