Students throng tax fair

According to the tax authorities, students from renowned schools, colleges and universities have been urged to participate in the fair to get to know the importance of paying taxes and its process.
Hundreds of students are thronging the fair each day to take
part in several events especially arranged for them.
A total of five schools and colleges in the capital and Dhaka University have already been registered for taking part in the event.
Students were seen roam around the fair to know how to fill papers and online process of paying taxes.
Suraya Akhter, a student of Siddheswari Girls’ College said: “Before, I knew nothing about tax and its payment system but now I feel it is a holy duty of a citizen to pay taxes.”
“The authority should spread out the event across the country,” she added.
NBR is organising the fair in its own underconstruction building for the first time. The aim of the fair is to encourage more people to pay their income taxes regularly.
The fair is being held on 150 venues including seven days at the divisional headquarters, four days at the district headquarters, two days in 29 upazilas while a one-day will be fixed for mobile income tax.
