A journey that began as a waiter at the former Hotel Sheraton in Shahbag, Dhaka, more than two decades ago has culminated in a historic milestone for Bangladesh.
Md Alamgir Hossan, group general manager of Platinum Hotels by Sheltech, has been named South Asia’s Best General Manager at the South Asian Travel Awards (Sata) 2026, becoming the first Bangladeshi to receive this regional honour.
Platinum Residence by Sheltech also won Leading City Hotel (40 Rooms Below) at Sata 2026.
Hossan received the award at the Sata 2026 Grand Gala on 8 October at Barceló Nasandhura Malé, Maldives, in the presence of leading figures from the region’s travel, tourism and hospitality industries.
