Bangladesh’s rapidly growing urban population and expanding industrial sector are creating greater demand for efficient water supply, wastewater treatment and water reuse.
This is increasing the importance of energy-efficient technologies and sustainable water infrastructure.
German pump and valve manufacturer KSB Ltd and Green Dot Limited, a concern of ZI Group, jointly organized the “Solutions for Sustainable Water Management” program on September 2 at Radisson Hotel Dhaka.
Discussions focused on modern pumping and flow-management technologies for water collection and transportation, water supply, wastewater treatment and water reuse.
Participants also discussed ways to reduce energy consumption, improve operational efficiency and optimize lifecycle costs.
Vice president of KSB Germany Philip Storch highlighted the role of advanced pumping technology in improving the efficiency and reliability of water infrastructure.
He said KSB aims to provide solutions that help customers improve operational performance, reduce energy and maintenance costs, and achieve sustainable long-term results.
Sr general manager & regional sales manager from KSB Jyotirmoy S Bose spoke about the importance of advanced pumping technology in building more efficient and reliable water infrastructure.
He said that KSB’s solutions can help improve system performance, reduce energy consumption and maintenance costs, and support the long-term sustainability of water and wastewater management.
ABM Zahidul Islam, chairman of Green Dot Ltd, emphasized the importance of combining global technology with local engineering expertise to address Bangladesh’s growing water management needs.
He said the collaboration with KSB will create opportunities to bring advanced pumping and flow-management solutions to the country and support the development of more efficient and sustainable water infrastructure.
The program also created an opportunity for local professionals and international technology specialists to exchange knowledge and experience, particularly on adapting modern technologies to Bangladesh’s water and infrastructure requirements.
Several distinguished officials and professionals from the water and infrastructure sectors also spoke on the occasion, including Md Khalekujjaman, chief engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD); Ahteshamul Rasel Khan, additional chief engineer of the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE); Md Abdul Kaium, SE, Planning Circle; Saifur Rahman, project director, GOB/Unicef, DPHE; Dr Muhit of the Gates Foundation; Dr Mohammad Saif Uddin, additional chief engineer, DPHE; and Mohammad Vadrul Alam, chief engineer of the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC), alongside other distinguished engineers and sector professionals.
The event was attended by Nargis Sultana, managing director of Green Dot Limited, along with senior officials from KSB India, including Jyotirmoy S Bose, senior general manager & regional sales manager (East Zone); Meena Kumari, export manager; Philip Storch, vice president, sales management water; and Sunil Bapat, vice president–operations, Sinnar Plant & Foundry Division and COO, Solar Pumps.
SM Saidul Alam, country manager–Bangladesh, KSB, was also present at the event.
