United International University (UIU) inaugurated 18 new AC buses for students on Wednesday at the UIU campus, strengthening its commitment to improving student mobility and supporting a more comfortable university experience.
Hasan Mahmood Raja, chairman, board of trustees, UIU was present as chief guest at the ceremony.
Moinuddin Hasan Rashid, chairman and managing director of United Group and joint general secretary, board of trustees, UIU, was present as special guest.
Prof Md Abul Kashem Mia, vice chancellor, UIU, presided over the ceremony.
Members of the UIU board of trustees were also present.
The university has introduced the AC bus service across six major routes in Dhaka City to help students, particularly those travelling from distant areas, reach campus on time and return home with greater ease.
The service is designed to provide reliable transportation while making students’ daily journeys more comfortable and time-efficient.
Hasan Mahmood Raja said that UIU has always given equal importance to student transportation and other essential services alongside academic activities.
He hoped that the new service would contribute to regular class attendance, punctuality, and an improved university experience.
He also advised students to focus on their personal development and strive to become good human beings.
Moinuddin Hasan Rashid said that United Group has always been committed to supporting a modern and supportive educational environment for UIU students.
He noted that the new service would help students save valuable time and further enhance their daily experience.
He also stated that United Group would continue to support the university through such initiatives in the future to help establish UIU as an internationally recognized, knowledge-based institution.
Prof Md Abul Kashem Mia, vice chancellor, UIU, said that the initiative goes beyond introducing new buses and reflects the university’s commitment to creating a campus experience where every journey reflects who UIU is and whom it serves.
He described the launch as a living extension of the university’s core belief of putting students first, without exception.
The initiative builds on UIU’s longstanding commitment to student transportation.
Since moving to its permanent campus on Madani Avenue in 2018, the university has been providing free shuttle services and subsidized transportation for students in different routes.
The 18 new subsidized AC buses take this commitment further by expanding access to more comfortable and reliable transportation for the UIU community.
The ceremony was attended by respected members of the UIU Board of Trustees, heads of different departments, faculty members, officials, students, and distinguished guests of the university.
