Bangladesh has agreed to purchase additional Boeing aircraft from the United States, expanding its multibillion-dollar aviation deal beyond the 25 planes it had previously committed to buying.
Sergio Gor, US President Donald Trump’s special envoy for South and Central Asia and US ambassador to India, disclosed the fresh commitment in a post on X on Sunday, saying Bangladesh had agreed to spend billions of dollars on more Boeing aircraft on top of its initial order.
The announcement marks a further expansion of Bangladesh’s aircraft procurement from the US manufacturer, although Gor did not disclose how many additional planes would be purchased or the value of the new commitment.

“This week, President Trump and the Prime Minister of Bangladesh made another incredible deal. Bangladesh has pledged to spend billions of dollars to buy more Boeing aircraft, which has significantly increased their initial order,” Gor wrote.
The latest commitment comes in addition to Bangladesh’s previously announced plan to purchase 25 Boeing aircraft under its tariff agreement with the United States.
Of those, Biman Bangladesh Airlines signed a final agreement with Boeing on May 1 for the purchase of 14 aircraft at an estimated cost of $3.7 billion, or around Tk45,408 crore at an exchange rate of Tk122.73 to the dollar.
The new announcement means Bangladesh’s overall Boeing procurement is now set to exceed the previously committed 25 aircraft, potentially pushing the total value of the country’s US aircraft purchases significantly higher.
However, neither the exact number of additional aircraft nor their models, cost, financing arrangements and delivery schedule have yet been disclosed.
Gor made the announcement while praising Trump’s economic policies, describing him as the greatest “jobs” president in American history and saying he was working to generate millions of high-paying jobs and bring trillions of dollars in investment into the US economy.
The Boeing orders have emerged as a major element of Bangladesh-US commercial relations, particularly following negotiations between Dhaka and Washington over tariffs.
The latest commitment will now put the focus on Dhaka for details of how many aircraft have been added to the earlier order and how much Bangladesh’s total Boeing procurement will ultimately cost.
