Following the mandate of Bangla QR under Bangladesh's 'One Nation, One QR' policy, the volume and total value of transactions have increased significantly.
While daily transactions averaged around Tk37 crore at the beginning of July, the figure surged past Tk110 crore last week.
According to Bangladesh Bank data, replacing proprietary QR codes of various institutions with the unified Bangla QR was made mandatory starting July 1 this year.
Since then, transaction growth on the platform has accelerated rapidly.
In early July, an average of 178,000 Bangla QR transactions occurred daily, accounting for purchases worth approximately Tk37.33 crore.
Last week, the average daily transaction volume rose to nearly 303,000, with the daily financial value reaching roughly Tk110.38 crore.
In effect, since the launch of the unified QR system, the daily number of Bangla QR transactions has nearly doubled, while the total transaction value has roughly tripled.
Meanwhile, on July 1—the day the unified QR policy took effect—the number of Bangla QR merchants nationwide stood at around 1.6 million.
That figure has now expanded to nearly 3 million.
Along with private commercial banks, state-owned banks are playing a lead role in expanding Bangla QR adoption.
Industry stakeholders believe that implementing a unified QR system across all banks and mobile financial services (MFS) will simplify digital payments and drive the country's transition toward a cashless economy.
