Some institutions are built to fill a gap. Mentors' was built to close one and then keep growing alongside the very students it set out to help.
It started in 1996, in a small classroom near the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka.
Two young MBA students, Syed Khairul Hassan and Nasim Ahmed, noticed something missing: structured, high-quality guidance for students preparing for IBA's notoriously competitive BBA and MBA admission tests.
They built it themselves, focusing on the fundamentals that actually mattered: English, Mathematics, and Analytical Ability rather than generic exam drilling.
That focus on substance over shortcuts became the organization's signature.
A year later, Mentors' opened its first branch in Mouchak.
By 1998, it had expanded into private university admissions. IELTS preparation followed in 1999, then GRE prep in 2003, each addition a response to what students were actually asking for.
Much of that momentum can be traced to Anindya Chowdhury, who joined as an instructor in 1997 and rose to become Mentors' current Director and CEO.
Having taught in the classroom himself, he understood exactly where students struggled and what educators needed to fix it — insight that shaped Mentors' into one of Bangladesh's most recognized names in IELTS and PTE preparation, spoken English, and admission consultancy.
The organization was formalized as Mentors' Education Limited in 2010 and today runs 15 branches nationwide: six in Dhaka (Kalabagan, Banani, Mouchak, Mirpur, Uttara Sector 3, and Uttara Sector 9) and in Chattogram, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Moulvibazar, Rangpur, Noakhali, Khulna, Nawabganj, and Dinajpur.
Behind that footprint: roughly 157 academic staff and 62 administrative team members serving learners across the country.
Through Mentors' Study Abroad, that same guiding philosophy now extends past Bangladesh's borders, helping students with university selection, scholarship guidance, visa documentation, and accommodation across more than 200 partner institutions in Australia, Canada, the UK, the US, New Zealand, Sweden, and Malaysia.
The recognition has followed the work. In 2026, Mentors' won the Highest Volume South Asia Award and Best All-Rounder Bangladesh Award at the British Council IELTS Global Awards in London on the back of being named British Council's Country Top Performer for IELTS four years running.
Three decades on, Mentors' is still doing what it did in that first Mouchak classroom: meeting students exactly where their ambitions are headed next.
