AIUB World Cup 2026 kicks off

The AIUB World Cup 2026 officially commenced on Tuesday, July 28, with a vibrant opening ceremony held at the campus of American International University–Bangladesh (AIUB).

The event was graced by Nadia Anwar, founder member and chairman of the board of trustees, AIUB, in the presence of Prof Manzur H Khan, proctor, AIUB; Ziarat H Khan, deputy director, Student Services and Welfare, AIUB; and Md Joynal Abedin, coordinator, Office of Sports, along with students, faculty members, and administrative officials.

In her opening address, the chairman praised the Office of Sports for its professional and spirited organization of the tournament.

She expressed her gratitude to the volunteers and participating teams whose commitment and coordination continue to drive the success of AIUB World Cup 2026.

She noted that the tournament is not only a stage for competition but also a living platform where students cultivate teamwork, discipline, and the values of true sportsmanship.

This year’s tournament features 48 departmental teams, reflecting the growing popularity of the Football Championship as a vibrant platform for sportsmanship, interdepartmental collaboration, and student engagement.

All matches, including the opening day festivities, are being broadcast live via the official Facebook page of AIUB’s Office of Sports, enabling real-time engagement from a broader audience.

The ACL 2025 promises an exciting and memorable season of football while fostering community spirit and promoting a culture of athletic excellence at AIUB.

The grand final is scheduled to take place on Sunday, August 9, 2026.
