Daffodil International University holds 1st ‘Erasmus + Open Day’ of 2026 in Bangladesh

On July 9, Daffodil International University (DIU), in collaboration with the Erasmus Mundus Association - Bangladesh, organized "Erasmus + Open Day 2026" under the motto “Learn, Explore & Go to Europe!”, marking the first Erasmus+ event of 2026 in Bangladesh.

The event brought together representatives from the Delegation of the European Union in Bangladesh, University Grants Commission (UGC) Bangladesh, Erasmus+ National Focal Points, academics, Erasmus+ alumni, and over 650 students and academics from DIU and different universities to celebrate Bangladesh–Europe higher education cooperation and explore the opportunities offered through the Erasmus+ Program.

Jurate Smalskyte Merville, counsellor and team leader for education, human development, and public finance management, Delegation of the European Union to Bangladesh, and Mst Jesmin Parvin, director, International Collaboration Division, UGC Bangladesh, and Erasmus+ National Focal Point joined the event as special guests.

Vice Chancellor of DIU Prof MR Kabir chaired the event, and deputy director of international affairs at DIU Syed Raihan-Ul-Islam welcomed everyone.

Md Ashiqur Rahman, regional manager – Asia, centralized support to the Network of Erasmus+ National Focal Points, and former president of EMA, presented a keynote on “Erasmus+ for Cross-Regional Development in Education, Culture and Economy.”

This was followed by an engaging panel discussion featuring former EMJM, Erasmus Smartlink, and ICM beneficiaries, representatives from the EU Delegation to Bangladesh, and experts.

This daylong event also included a hands-on workshop on Erasmus+ scholarships, mobility pathways, and application strategies, followed by a Meet & Greet session with EMA.

The event strengthened Bangladesh–Europe higher education cooperation by increasing awareness of Erasmus+ opportunities and fostering international networking, knowledge exchange, and cross-cultural collaboration.
