Concord Group enters 51st year

While most companies look backward when celebrating a major milestone, Concord Group is using its entry into its 51st year of operation to look firmly toward the future.

As the country's premier infrastructure and real estate pioneer marks its 51st anniversary, the milestone highlights a 50-year legacy deeply intertwined with the growth, heritage, and urban evolution of Bangladesh.

Founded five decades ago during a period of national crisis, Concord began its journey by repairing war-damaged bridges and highways, focusing on stitching the young nation's fractured transport networks back together.

Concord's early reputation was solidified by monumental civic projects.

In 1982, the company was tasked with constructing the National Martyrs' Memorial (Jatiyo Sriti Shoudho) in Savar.

Facing a complex geometric design and an unyielding state deadline, Concord completed the iconic national sanctuary in just 89 days.

As the nation grew, Concord continued to pioneer major infrastructure, constructing:

  • Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and its VVIP terminal, creating Bangladesh's primary gateway to the world.
  • Dhaka’s earliest corporate skyscrapers in Motijheel, including Janata Bank Bhaban, Jiban Bima Tower, and Bangladesh Shilpa Bank Bhaban—the country's first high-rise to feature three basement levels.
  • International projects, exporting local expertise to build the 720-foot Singapore City Telecommunication Center Building.
  • Civic and commercial icons, including the World Trade Centre in Chattogram, the National Indoor Stadium, the high-security British High Commission in Baridhara, and major tourism landmarks like the Fantasy Kingdom Complex and Foy's Lake Concord Resort.

Beyond physical landmarks, Concord revolutionized the country's construction sector by introducing sustainable technologies.

In 1998, it became the first company to commercially supply ready-mix concrete via automated batching plants in Bangladesh.

That same year, the group introduced eco-friendly concrete blocks and hollow green bricks.

This automated green masonry initiative was designed to save vital topsoil and combat the toxic air pollution caused by traditional fire-burnt clay brick kilns.

Concord proved the commercial viability of the technology by building Lake City Concord, the country’s first pollution-free satellite township.

Comprising over 4,000 apartments, the project was built entirely without traditional burnt clay bricks.

This decades-long environmental push directly influenced the Government's policy decision to phase out traditional clay bricks, earning Concord the National Environment Award.

Crossing the threshold into its 51st year, Concord is channeling its five decades of engineering data into the ultra-premium residential market.

Concord Real Estate is currently developing modern residential sanctuaries across Dhaka’s elite zones, including Gulshan, Banani, and Baridhara.

Company officials emphasize that even as they pivot toward luxury and future-focused urban living, the founding philosophy remains unchanged: prioritizing human wellness, structural perfection, and national service over short-term market trends.
