Infrastructure Development Company Limited (Idcol) has once again solidified its position as Bangladesh’s leading climate finance catalyst, winning the "Best Sustainable Bank in Bangladesh" award at the FinanceAsia Awards 2026.
This marks the fourth consecutive year the institution has taken home this prestigious regional honor.
M Maftun Ahmed, company secretary of Idcol, accepted the award at a gala ceremony held at the Conrad Hong Kong on June 25.
As one of the Asia-Pacific region's most respected financial benchmarks, the FinanceAsia Awards recognize Idcol's sustained excellence in mobilizing capital for renewable energy, energy efficiency, and climate-resilient infrastructure.
"Winning this award for the fourth consecutive year powerfully endorses our mission," said Mr. Alamgir Morshed, managing director of Idcol.
"It proves that disciplined, sustainability-linked finance can scale effectively—from utility-scale solar projects to industrial decarbonization and clean energy solutions for local farmers. We owe this honor to our partners and team, and we view it as a mandate to drive even greater impact."
Idcol’s comprehensive sustainability strategy spans grid decarbonization, industrial transition finance, and climate-smart agriculture. Key milestones include:
- Industrial Rooftop Solar: Financed over 200 MWp, with a target of reaching 300 MW by the end of 2026.
- Utility-Scale Clean Energy: Structured a landmark $67 million syndicated facility for the 64.55 MW BCRECL solar plant in Pabna.
- Industrial Decarbonization: Secured a $133 million energy efficiency credit line for the textile sector, co-financed alongside the Green Climate Fund.
- Climate-Smart Agriculture: Deployed 1,495 Solar Irrigation Pumps supporting 70,000 farmers, tracking toward a goal of 10,000 systems by 2030.
The Finance Asia win caps off a stellar year of global recognition for the institution.
At The Asset Triple A Sustainable Infrastructure Finance Awards 2026, Idcol was named Project Finance House of the Year, while its Pabna BCRECL solar project clinched the Renewable Energy Deal of the Year—further cementing Idcol’s expertise in structuring high-impact, bankable clean energy projects.
