Gold prices have been increased once again in the country's market. The price of the highest-quality 22-carat gold has been raised by Tk5,482 per bhori (11.664 grams), bringing the new price to Tk228,556 per bhori (including VAT).
According to a statement issued by the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) on Saturday, the price adjustment was made due to an increase in the price of pure (acid-tested) gold in the local market. The new prices came into effect at 10am on Saturday.
The decision was made during a meeting of the Bajus Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring. The updated price list was announced through a notice signed by the committee's chairman, Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen.
Bajus stated that gold prices are regularly adjusted to reflect fluctuations in both the international gold market and the local gold market. With this latest increase, the price of 22-carat gold per bhori has reached a new record high in Bangladesh.
