Five ‘Nagad Islamic’ campaign winners reach Jeddah for Umrah

Five fortunate winners of the special Umrah campaign organized by “Nagad Islamic”, the Shariah-compliant digital wallet of mobile financial service provider Nagad, reached Jeddah to perform Umrah.

Earlier, the winners boarded a regular flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at 3:15 AM on Tuesday (June 16) from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka, heading towards Saudi Arabia.

The entire cost of this spiritual journey is being fully sponsored by “Nagad Islamic”.

The special campaign witnessed spontaneous participation from customers throughout the month of Ramadan.

Under the campaign rules, Nagad Islamic wallet users became eligible for the Umrah package by executing a minimum transaction of Tk3,000 except Person-to-Person (P2P) transfer from their accounts.

Out of nationwide participation, five lucky winners were selected after meeting the transaction criteria.

The five winners of this campaign are Md. Jubayer Hossain (an auto-rickshaw driver from Dhaka), Md. Shajahan (‍a mason from Dhaka’s Kafrul), Md. Manik (a farmer from Lalmonirhat), Ali Akbar Sheikh (a tea stall owner from Khulna), and Md. Redwan Hossain (a contractor from Chapainawabganj).

Sharing his emotions, Md Jubayer Hossain said: “Struggling to make ends meet by driving an auto-rickshaw, dreaming of Umrah felt like a luxury I couldn’t afford. I couldn’t believe it when I heard about this initiative from Nagad. Allah has accepted this unworthy servant, and Nagad has made my life’s greatest wish come true. My deepest prayers are with them.”

Another winner Md Manik stated: “I work hard all day in the sun and rain, never imagining that my modest transactions would lead me to the Holy Kaaba. My family simply didn't have the means to afford such a journey. Nagad has turned a dream for common people like us into reality. I lack the words to express my gratitude to them.”

Before departure, following the completion of all travel preparations, the documents were formally handed over to the five winners during a brief ceremony at the Nagad office on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Nagad administrator Motasem Billah said: “We are immensely delighted to facilitate this sacred Umrah opportunity for the lower-income people of our society. It is a great honor for us to help fulfill one of the lifelong dreams of our users.

“Nagad Islamic is not just a digital wallet; it is a platform that honors and aligns with the religious and emotional values of our customers. The entire Nagad family shares the joy of these five pious individuals as they perform Tawaf at the Holy Kaaba. We remain committed to facilitating such meaningful, spiritual, and welfare-oriented initiatives in the future.”

Operating under the direct supervision of a dedicated Islamic Shariah Board, ‘Nagad Islamic’ allows users to manage interest-free digital transactions seamlessly.
