The government has proposed Tk31,099 crore for the Ministry of Home Affairs in the 2026–27 fiscal year, up from Tk27,174 crore in the revised budget for 2025–26, a rise of nearly Tk4,000 crore.
The allocation stood at Tk27,001 crore in the original budget for the current fiscal year.
Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury unveiled the proposed national budget for 2026–27 in parliament on Thursday. The budget, the first under the current government, has an outlay of Tk938,000 crore.
It is the country’s 55th national budget and the first for the finance minister under the current government’s tenure.
The proposal was approved by the cabinet before being placed in parliament and will come into effect on July 1 after presidential assent.
