Govt aims to engage overseas Bangladeshis in research, innovation

The government is planning to harness the knowledge and expertise of highly educated Bangladeshis living and working abroad.

The finance minister said the aim is to turn “brain drain” into “brain circulation.”

To achieve this, expatriate experts will be engaged in research, education, and innovation-related initiatives.

Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury unveiled the proposed national budget for the 2026–27 fiscal year in parliament on Thursday.

The proposed budget, the first under the current government, has an outlay of Tk938,000 crore.
