The government has announced a major overhaul of the country’s education system, saying it plans to move toward a skills-based economy and reduce reliance on job-seeking education.
Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said Bangladesh will introduce technical education in phases for all students starting from cxlass six, as part of efforts to transform the country into a skills-based economy.
According to the government, the main objective of the new education policy will be to develop a skilled workforce rather than an education system based only on certificates.
On Thursday, Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury presented the proposed budget for the 2026–27 fiscal year in Parliament.
He proposed a national budget of 9 lakh 38 thousand crore taka for the upcoming fiscal year, describing it as one of the largest in the country’s history.
