Singer Bangladesh Limited, a subsidiary of leading global home appliances manufacturer Beko, marks World Environment Day with the announcement of an in-house plastic recycling initiative at its state-of-the-art production facility, reaffirming its commitment to environmentally responsible manufacturing and sustainable industrial practices.
As part of this program, the company has achieved a reduction of over 90% in plastic waste and a 20% decrease in overall non-hazardous waste across production operations, corresponding to an annual waste reduction of approximately 1,200 tonnes.
Through this initiative, the company collects, crushes, and reuses HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene, (used in refrigerator components including crisper drawers and inner door panels) and GPPS (General Purpose Polystyrene, a key material for transparent parts and interior accessories) plastic waste generated during refrigerator production by mixing the recycled material with virgin resin in the injection molding and HIPS extrusion processes, increasingly treating waste as a resource and embracing circular production approaches.
This approach reflects Singer Bangladesh’s dedication to sustainable manufacturing, operational efficiency, and environmentally conscious industrial development in line with Beko’s long-term sustainability vision.
As one of the most advanced consumer durables production facilities of the country, Singer Bangladesh’s plant continues to play a significant role in strengthening local production capability, innovation, and sustainable industrial growth in Bangladesh, reflecting the company's ongoing transformation journey spanning manufacturing, retail, and employee experience.
