ACCA, National University to expand job-ready finance skills for BD undergrads

ACCA Bangladesh has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National University of Bangladesh to expand access to job-ready skills and strengthen pathways into professional accountancy.

Under this collaboration, undergraduate students will enter the ACCA qualification pathway starting with the Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) program, gaining practical, employer-valued skills for careers across corporates, SMEs, accountancy firms, and the growing BPO sector.

The National University—Asia’s second-largest—produces around one million graduates annually, and this initiative is expected to enhance employability and address unemployment challenges through a structured progression route from CAT to the globally recognized ACCA Qualification.

The MoU was signed on behalf of ACCA Bangladesh by Prawma Tapashi Khan, country manager, and Shah Waliul Manzoor, senior business development manager.

Representing the National University of Bangladesh, the agreement was signed by Prof ASM Amanullah, vice-chancellor, with Prof Md Lutfor Rahaman, pro-vice-chancellor, serving as witness.

The signing ceremony took place at the residence of the British High Commissioner in Dhaka and was attended by UK Trade Envoy Rt. Hon. Baroness Rosie Winterton of Doncaster, DBE, and British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke, along with representatives from the British High Commission and National University.

Speaking at the event, Baroness Winterton mentioned it’s a delicate moment to witness this MoU, marking a new UK-Bangladesh partnership that will expand access to international qualifications for around 25,000 National University students
