Walton Hi-Tech gets 'Green Factory Award’ again

For enhancing productivity through usage of skilled workforce and eco-friendly technology in safe environments, country's tech giant ‘Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC’, listed in the capital market, has been honoured with ‘Green Factory Award-2025’. 

The Ministry of Labour and Employment gave the award to Walton in the electrical and electronics product manufacturing category at the 'Green Factory Award-2025' giving ceremony held at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Tuesday.

Attending the function as the chief guest, Dr M Sakhawat Hossain, adviser to the Ministry of Labour and Employment and the Ministry of Shipping, handed over the 'Green Factory Award' to Md. Yusuf Ali, additional managing director (AMD) of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC. 

Adilur Rahman Khan, adviser to the Ministry of Industries and the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, was present as special guest while AHM Shafiquzzaman, secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, was in the chair.

Walton Hi-Tech's AMD Md. Yusuf Ali said: "Walton received the 'Green Factory Award' for the sector time. On behalf of Walton family, I thank the authorities of the Ministry of Labour and Employment and related parties for honouring Walton with this prestigious award. 

Walton is strongly promised to manufacture environment-friendly energy efficient world-class electrical, electronics, home and kitchen appliances and other tech goods. Thus, Walton adopted environment-friendly state-of-the art technologies and machineries in the manufacturing plants of refrigerator, air conditioner, television, washing machine, compressor and other products. Align with the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), Walton Hi-Tech has set up rooftop solar project and the country's largest floating solar power plant which has a capacity of producing 1-megawatt power. In addition, several initiatives are taken at Walton factory for plastic and metal recycling, he added.

From the very beginning, Walton has been integrating green practices into the manufacturing processes.

Considering green manufacturing practices, Walton adopted 'Goal Zero' initiative that implies zero harm to people, environment and property as well as zero net carbon emission.

For protecting environment, Walton has affiliated with different programmes like use of environment-friendly gases, waste minimize and recycling, compost, application of energy efficient technology, reduction of GHG emission, installation of renewable energy, water recycle etc.

Walton received several recognitions for its initiatives for protecting environment.

The brand also won 'National Environment Award 2018', 'President’s Industrial Development Gold Award-2018,' 'Gold Crest of National Export Trophy-2022' and 'Green Factory Award-2023'.
