In a powerful celebration of unity, wellness, and purpose, JCI Dhaka West hosted the Haier JCI Dhaka West Rise Up Run 2025 on Saturday at the iconic Hatirjheel waterfront.
This landmark community event commemorated 110 years of Junior Chamber International (JCI) and brought together over 1,500 participants in a vibrant call for health, inclusivity, and sustainable development.
From first light, Hatirjheel transformed into a sea of enthusiasm as runners of all ages and backgrounds gathered for an experience that was much more than a race.
The event featured two categories, a 7.5km challenge run and a 1km fun run, ensuring participation from fitness enthusiasts, families, and first-time runners alike.
A spirited warm-up session set the tone before the official flag-off at 5:33am, as the runners took off along a route lined with cheering volunteers, music, and inspiring messages of hope and progress.
Adding to the energy and inspiration of the day was the presence of Kazi Fahad, 2025 National President of JCI Bangladesh, who praised the initiative for its alignment with JCI’s global mission.
“This Haier JCI Dhaka West Rise Up Run is a powerful example of how we, as young active citizens, can combine passion with purpose. JCI has always been about empowering people to create positive change — and today, we’ve seen that vision come to life,” he said.
“I applaud JCI Dhaka West for creating a platform where health, leadership, and sustainable development intersect. This is what JCI is all about, rising together for a better tomorrow.”
His presence energized participants and underscored the importance of nationwide civic engagement in building a stronger, more inclusive Bangladesh.
Organized by JCI Dhaka West, this year's Haier JCI Dhaka West Rise Up Run was a signature initiative to honour JCI’s 110-year legacy of empowering young leaders and fostering global impact.
The event reflected JCI’s values of active citizenship, showcasing how small, collective steps can drive positive change at scale.
Sujaur Rahman, 2025 local president of JCI Dhaka West, shared his vision: “This run was never just about distance. It was about rising up, with courage, with community, and with a shared purpose. Together, we have demonstrated what it means to move forward, united.”
The success of the event was powered by strong leadership on the ground. Md Tanvir Hasan, event director, and Md Sameen Rahman, event convenor, played pivotal roles in the seamless execution of every aspect of the Haier JCI Dhaka West Rise Up Run. Their dedication ensured a vibrant, safe, and memorable experience for all involved.
The run drew participation from an incredibly diverse group — including corporate leaders, university teams, fitness groups, community advocates, and families with children. Participants came not only from Dhaka but from surrounding districts, representing a broad cross-section of Bangladesh’s energetic youth and civic-minded citizens.
Many joined in support of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which were prominently showcased as part of the event’s core messaging.
Haier, the title sponsor, played a vital role in championing the Rise Up Run, alongside Kazi Industry, ActivePulse Bangladesh, JCI Bangladesh, and other valued partners. Their collaboration helped elevate the run into a dynamic platform for health awareness, youth engagement, and social inclusion.
The overwhelming success of the Haier JCI Dhaka West Rise Up Run has paved the way for what promises to be an annual movement. With its blend of physical vitality and civic purpose, JCI Dhaka West aims to expand the event’s reach, continuing to inspire communities to rise, run, and lead positive change.
As the sun rose higher over Hatirjheel and runners crossed the finish line, they did so not just with medals — but with a renewed sense of mission. In every step taken, the message was clear:
“When we rise together, we move the world forward.”
