Rabiul Islam joins SBAC Bank as AMD

Md Rabiul Islam, a well-known banker with 36 years of experience, has joined SBAC Bank PLC as the additional managing director (AMD). 

Before this, he worked at NRBC Bank as the deputy managing director (DMD) and also served as the acting managing director. 

Throughout his career, he worked at Islami Bank, Prime Bank, Al-Arafah Islami Bank, Mercantile Bank, NCC Bank, and NRBC Bank.

He started his banking career in 1989 as a Probationary Officer at Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC. 

Later, he joined Prime Bank and Al-Arafah Islami Bank, where he worked successfully in different departments, including the Export and Foreign Remittance Department at the Motijheel Branch. In 1999, he joined Mercantile Bank. 

There he got promotions and served as Branch Manager at Mohakhali, Gulshan, and main branches. 

He also worked as Deputy Head of the Credit Risk Management Department and Head of the SME Financing Division at the bank’s head office. 

In 2017, he joined NCC Bank as Senior Executive Vice President (SEVP) and worked as branch manager of the Motijheel Main Branch. 

In January 2020, he joined NRBC Bank as deputy managing director. 

At first, he served as the Head of the Principal Branch, and later, he took charge as the CEO of the Islamic Banking Window. Since May 2024, he has served as the Managing Director (CC) of NRBC Bank. 

In these banks, he held important positions such as Chief Credit Officer, Corporate Banking, Foreign Trade, Remittance, Retail Banking, Cards, SME, Credit Risk Management, Branch Manager, and Zonal Head. 

He played a key role in planning, leadership, and decision-making. He also helped improve the quality of assets in the banks. He was awarded several times as the best manager.

Md Rabiul Islam completed his BCom (Honors) in Finance and MCom from the University of Dhaka. 

He also earned an LLM degree from the University of Derby, UK. 

He participated in various meetings, seminars and training programs both at home and abroad on different banking topics.
