‘Made in Bangladesh’ expo on June 15-18 in Brazil

Brazil Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BBCCI) is set to host the first-ever Made in Bangladesh Exhibition-2025 on June 15-18 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The exhibition will promote goods that can be exported, diversify markets, strengthen trade between countries, and help networking in Latin America, especially in Brazil.

This was announced at a press conference organized by the BBCCI at Hotel Ascot Palace in the capital on Wednesday.

Ambassador of Brazil to Bangladesh Paulo Fernando Dias Feres said: “The Made in Bangladesh Exhibition-2025 is a significant step towards strengthening the ties between Brazil and Bangladesh. This initiative provides a platform for businesses to showcase their excellence and forge meaningful partnerships. I am confident this event will further enhance mutual understanding and pave the way for greater economic cooperation."

The ambassador further said the expo will strengthen connectivity and cooperation between the two countries. It will help to boost not only trade but also investment.

“Although there had been plans to import beef from Brazil to Bangladesh, it was not possible during the previous government due to bureaucratic complications and lack of certification,” he added.

In his welcome address, BBCCI president Saiful Alam highlighted the chamber's commitment to promoting bilateral trade and investment.

"The expo aligns perfectly with BBCCI’s vision of fostering economic collaboration and opening new avenues for Bangladeshi entrepreneurs. This is a golden opportunity for our exporters to penetrate new markets and elevate their businesses to a global stage. Whether you're a leader in the garment industry, a pioneer in jute products, or a trailblazer in pharmaceuticals, this event is your gateway to international growth.”

BBCCI secretary general Md Joynal Abdin described the expo as a bridge between cultures and commerce.

"With bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Brazil valued at $2.53 billion in 2022, the potential for exponential growth is undeniable. The expo offers a platform to explore synergies, such as Bangladesh’s jute aligning with Brazil’s sustainability goals and Brazilian industrial equipment supporting Bangladesh’s industrialization," he said.

He further emphasized the event’s goals to diversify markets for Bangladeshi exporters, raise trade volumes, foster investment partnerships, and promote innovation and collaboration across industries.

“The expo will feature targeted business-to-business (B2B) matchmaking, policy discussions, and cultural showcases, fostering partnerships that go beyond commerce to strengthen mutual understanding and growth,” he added.

BBCCI vice president Md Saiful Alam delivered the welcome address at the press conference, and Joynal Abdin delivered the keynote address.

Brunei Darussalam High Commissioner Haji Haris Bin Haji Othman, BBCCI former president Bashir Ahmed, Deputy Head of Mission at the Brazilian Embassy in Dhaka Leonardo de Oliveira Jannuzzi, and its Agriculture Attaché Silvio Luiz Rodrigues Testaseca, and other prominent businessmen and media persons were present in the event.
