A meeting between Timor-Leste's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bendito dos Santos Freitas, and the Honorary Consul of Timor-Leste in Bangladesh, Kutubuddin Ahmed, was held on Sunday at Hotel Sonargaon in Dhaka.
During the meeting, discussions were held on various issues, including bilateral trade and investment.
Kutubuddin Ahmed, former president of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), Dhaka also served as the Secretary General of the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA).
Timor-Leste’s Foreign Minister and his delegation urged Kutubuddin Ahmed, as the Honorary Consul, to assist in promoting business investment and trade growth.
In response, Kutubuddin Ahmed highlighted the potential for cooperation between the two nations in industries such as textiles, garment manufacturing, real estate, construction, ceramics, and aviation.
He emphasized that through bilateral trade and development partnerships, Bangladesh can play a significant role in Timor-Leste's progress, while also benefiting from regional trade and investment opportunities.
Kutubuddin Ahmed, a leading RMG businessman in Bangladesh, is chairman of Sheltech Group and Envoy Textiles Ltd.
