Pubali Bank holds tree plantation program at DU

Pubali Bank PLC initiated the Tree Plantation Program-2024 at the University of Dhaka as part of its CSR program, which is under the overall supervision of the Banking and Insurance Department. 

Prof Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan, vice-chancellor of Dhaka University, was the chief guest. Mohammad Ali, managing director and CEO of Pubali Bank PlC, was the special guest. 

Banking and Insurance Department Chairman Prof Dr Hasina Sheykh presided over the event. 

Prof Dr Mamun Ahmed, pro-vice-chancellor (Education); Mahmood Osman Imam, dean of the Faculty of Business Studies along with provost of various halls, dean of various faculties, teachers and students and senior executives of Pubali Bank were present. 

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Niaz Ahmad Khan said: “Emphasis should be placed on creating public awareness about environmental protection and strengthening research activities in this regard. For this purpose research funds should be increased. Industry-academia must work in unison using the specialized knowledge of educational and research institutions.”

Managing Director and CEO of Pubali Bank Mohammad Ali said: “We have to be more conscious in protecting the environment to save ourselves as well as the development of the society. In this regard, plantation programs and voluntary activities should be strengthened and investments should be increased.”

Speakers in the discussion meeting emphasized on the elimination of foreign trees and the planting of indigenous trees. 

Proper tree care and preservation are also highlighted. After the ceremony, saplings were planted on the business studies faculty premises.
