Leaked iPhone 16 dummy units hint at new design, features

The iPhone 16 series is anticipated to launch in September with four models: the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Ahead of the release, dummy units of the standard iPhone 16 have been leaked on the platform X (formerly Twitter), showcasing five color options and a redesigned camera layout.

Leaked design and colors of iPhone 16

JSonny Dickson (@SonnyDickson) posted an image on X revealing the iPhone 16's color choices: black, blue, green, pink, and white. These colors are more vibrant compared to the pastel shades of the iPhone 15 series. Analysts had predicted similar hues for the new lineup, which echoes the matte finishes of last year's iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, available in Black, Blue, Green, Pink, and Yellow.

The leaked image shows a significant design change with a vertically aligned camera bump, replacing the previous diagonal arrangement. This new design is expected to support capturing Spatial Video, a feature currently available only on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, which works with the Vision Pro headset.

New features and specifications

The iPhone 16 is rumored to feature a matte finish on the back, similar to the iPhone 15, with a power button on the right side and a rumored Capture button below it. The device is expected to have a 6.1-inch OLED display. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are likely to be powered by the A18 Bionic chip, utilizing TSMC's 3nm technology. In contrast, the Pro models are expected to run on the more advanced A18 Pro chip.
