Republic of Slovenia in Dhaka

It was inaugurated by the Honourable Minister, Ministry of Commerce, Mr Tofael Ahmed, MP HE Jozef Drofenik, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia in New Delhi, who is visiting Bangladesh to present his Letter of Credence to the President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Mr Md Abdul Hamid, was also present in the ceremony as guest of honour. Diplomats, high government officials and other dignitaries were present on the occasion. Mr Wahid Salam, Honourary Consul to the Republic of Slovenia in Bangladesh welcomed the guests and expressed his gratitude to all for their presence in the opening ceremony. The consular office is located at Pearl Trade Centre, 90/3 Pragoti Sharani, Dhaka.

Situated in southern, Central Europe, Slovenia borders Italy to the west, Austria to the north, Croatia to the south and southeast, and Hungary to the northeast. The Capital of Slovenia is Ljubljana (Lubiana) and the country has a population of two-million. Slovenia is a young nation which earned its independence 25 years ago and it is a member of the European Union.

The Consulate of Slovenia plans to further develop trade and commerce and bridge a much stronger relationship between Bangladesh and Slovenia.
